There are over 50,000 motor vehicles on Queensland (QLD) Roads, with Queenslanders travelling over 70,000 million kilometres per year .
Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads legally requires that all motor vehicles travelling on public roads in the state must be registered. Driving an unregistered vehicle is not only illegal, but jeopardises the safety of the car’s driver and its passengers.
A QLD rego check is quick and easy, and gives you access to valuable safety information such as whether your vehicle has been involved in a serious accident where it was written off.
A free registration check (rego check) can be done online to:
- Check whether a vehicle is registered on Queensland roads
- Check car rego expiry date
- Check Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurer and expiry date
- Check any registration restrictions
- Confirm the vehicle model and body type
What do I need?
You’ll need the vehicle’s QLD registration plate number or VIN number to be able to check its rego.
Visit the Queensland State Department of Transport website to run a free QLD rego check.
Why should I check my registration?
Further to the potential safety risks that can occur in unregistered vehicles, anyone caught driving a vehicle without registration in that state can also incur large fines or lose their license. It’s important to check and maintain your car’s registration to protect yourself and those close to you.
